Camp at 'Viney Hill', Gloucestershire 2012
• Don't miss out!!!
We’re
already at that time of year!... We have started planning the SYG Annual
Summer Residential for 2012, and need to know if you would like a place.
We have selected a new site for the year’s residential – Viney Hill
Christian Adventure Centre, this is an activity centre based in
Gloucestershire near the River Seven with the nearby town of Chepstow.
Please visit the website to take a look:

This year we have chosen a site that can accommodate the younger members
(juniors) inside the old vicarage and have a camping field fully equip
with the own centres tents and wooden camping sheds for the older
members (seniors and amicus) and of course the leaders.
The centre has everything you can possible ask for, some of the
activities they offer include: mountain biking, archery, bridge
building, bush craft, crate stack, low ropes, canoeing and kayaking,
raft building, abseiling, caving, climbing wall on site, mountain days
across the border into Wales, rock climbing.
The site has many buildings to provide indoor activity space and cover
if the weather becomes bad. There are 2 Kitchens one in the vicarage and
one in the camping centre which also would offer a large dining area.
The centre offers a wide range of activities and programs along with
resources for the catering team.
The dates for this year’s camp will be Friday 20th July to Wednesday
25th July 2012 confirmed times of departure and return will come later
once numbers have been gathered. We will be transporting via coach, and
using the centres minibuses once on site.
The cost will be £130 per person and this includes all cost and no other
money will be needed, unless you want some spending money but
opportunities are limited for spending this. You may notice that
we have increased the costs by £5 this year, every year the camp costs
over £250
per person and the group always endeavours to fund raise the difference.
This requires a lot of hard work and endless grant applications to meet
to amount needed to keep the costs as low as possible for our members.
As always, we don’t want any of our members to miss out on this
opportunity due to costs, so if you require any financial assistance
please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. A considerable
amount of work has already been done towards this residential, but
before going any further we need to know who would like to attend. At
this stage, we need a £30 deposit to secure a place, ideally by the
Monday 6th February 2012. The remainder will be required in two staged
payments of £50 each, the first early April and the second at the early
June.
